Hi 5 are pleased to introduce a full range of 1st Aid courses which are not only approved to HSE standards, but are tailored to meet the training needs of different working environments and include a range of practical and engaging simulated scenarios that bring the learning to life. 123
Because of the nature of our core business, our 1st aid trainers are particularly familiar with the following industries:
- Outdoor activity centres
- Learning and development businesses (including experiential learning)
- Hotels and conference centres
- Event management
- Watersports Scouting and Guiding
- Youth adventurous activity programmes
- Duke of Edinburgh Award expeditions
We offer courses from 1 day to 4 days to meet all first aid at work specifications, programmes are then enhanced to increase their relevance to delegates.
Our training base is Copthorne Hotel Reading, from the training room we have immediate access to open ground and lakes which enhance the reality of our training simulations.
Courses for between 6 and 12 delegates can be held in your own premises, if suitable training facilities are available.
Open country / remote access courses, are run in bunk house environments and are priced to include all food and accommodation.
1 Day Courses
(Guide price per head from £95 plus VAT – based at Copthorne Hotel Reading)
On completion of training a successful candidate will be able to:
- Understand the role of the 1st aider including;
- The importance of preventing cross infection
- The need for recording incidents and accidents
- Use of available equipment
- Assess the situation and circumstances in order to act safely, promptly and effectively in an emergency
- Administer first aid to a casualty who is unconscious (including seizure)
- Administer cardiopulmonary resuscitation
- Administer first aid to a casualty who is choking
- Administer first aid to a casualty who is wounded and bleeding
- Administer first aid to a casualty who is suffering from shock
- Provide appropriate first aid for minor injuries (including small cuts, grazes and bruises, minor burns and scalds, small splinters)

2 Day Courses
(Guide price per head from £180 plus VAT – based at Copthorne Hotel Reading)
Programme 2 – Enhanced Emergency First Aid at Work
This programme covers the Emergency First Aid at Work Syllabus, but is enhanced by considerably more practical experience on simulated accident and emergency scenarios, which if required can include remote access, and water based scenarios.
Price includes:
- All day tea and coffee
- Buffet lunch
- All training materials and a current 1st Aid manual
- Simulated accident or emergency scenarios (tailored to delegates working environment)
Programme 3 – First Aid at Work - Requalification
This programme covers the First Aid at Work Syllabus (see programme 4), and is designed for existing FAW certificate holders.
Price includes:
- All day tea and coffee
- Buffet lunch
- All training materials and a current 1st Aid manual
- Simulated accident or emergency scenarios (tailored to delegates working environment)
3 Day Courses
(Guide price per head from £265 plus VAT – based at Copthorne Hotel Reading)
Programme 4 - First Aid at Work
On completion of training a successful candidate will be able to:
- Provide emergency first aid at work (see programme 1)
- Administer first aid to a casualty with;
- Injuries to bones,
- muscles and joints,
- including suspected spinal injuries
- Chest injuries
- Burns and scalds
- Eye injuries
- Sudden poisoning
- Anaphylactic shock
- Recognise the presence of major illness and provide appropriate first aid ( including heart attack, stroke, epilepsy. asthma, diabetes).

Programme 5 – Enhanced First Aid at Work - Requalification
This programme covers the First Aid at Work – Requalification Syllabus, but is enhanced by considerably more practical experience on simulated accident and emergency scenarios, which if required can include remote access, and water based scenarios.

4 Day Courses
Programme 6 – Enhanced First Aid at Work

Note
Programmes can be run on weekdays or weekends, to suit delegate requirements, and can be broken down into shorter session modules that can be run in evenings if required.
